            Funeral service for Vera Hudson, age 77, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. Charlie Graves officiating.

            Mrs. Hudson passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021, at her home.

            Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at the funeral home.

            She was born January 2, 1944, at Watson, (McCurtain County), Oklahoma, to Jefferson G. and Lorancie (Leflore) Hicks. She moved with her family to Tillman County and Frederick at the age of nine. She attended school at Weaver and Frederick and graduated from Frederick High School with the Class of 1962. She was united in marriage to Cordell Hudson on June 9, 1979, at Wichita Falls, Texas. Vera was a talented seamstress and worked at Centra-Leather Goods and Frybrandt manufacturing. She also worked extensively at home providing custom sewing and mending. She made costumes, clothing and dresses for school plays and for her granddaughter’s activities. She enjoyed coaching little league baseball and softball; she even coached kids in the community before leagues were organized. She loved spending time with family and especially her grandchildren. She was a full blood Choctaw and a member of the Choctaw Tribe. She was extremely proud of her Indian heritage and enjoyed traveling to Tribal meetings and powwow celebrations. She was a member and integral part of the Apostolic Faith Church in Frederick.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Garyl Dewayne Fobb; a brother: Joe Ray Hicks; and three sisters: Pearlene Osborn, Louella Ann Fobb, and JoElla Saenz.

            Survivors include her husband: Cordell, of the home in Frederick; two daughters: Holly Meador and husband Robert, of Frederick, and Lindsey Caldwell and husband Michael, of Clarksville, Tennessee; a son: Jon Fobb, of Frederick; a brother: Eddie Joel Hicks and wife Gloria, of Frederick; four grandchildren: Julia Toloa Meador, Victoria Loran Meador, Peyton Kye Caldwell and Monica Avery Caldwell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
