Rose Hicks

Funeral service for Rosabell "Rose" Hicks, age 90, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Frederick, with Rev. Tim Billy, pastor of Thomas First Baptist Church, officiating.

Mrs. Hicks passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at Lawton, Oklahoma, nursing care center.

Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

She was born March 4, 1933, in Eagletown, Oklahoma, to Hickman and Serena (Battiest) Fobb. She came to Southwest Oklahoma, in the 1950's, living in Tipton and then moving to Frederick. She was united in marriage to Joe Hicks, Sr., he preceded her in death on June 30, 1996. Among other positions, she worked as a seamstress for various manufacturers including: Betsy Bra, Centra Leather Goods, Kellwood, Schlegel, Bag Scene, and Frybrandt. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and watching old westerns. She was an avid sports fan a huge Frederick Bombers fanatic. She loved gospel singing and was an active longtime member of the Frederick Assembly of God Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Leon and Roy Hicks; a grandson: Kirby Sanders; a son-in-law: Randy Sanders; three brothers: Hickman Jr., Houston, and Ernest Fobb; five sisters: Josephine, Mary, Lily, Vivian, and Lucille.

Survivors include five sons: Ricky Hicks (Felicia), of Frederick, Joe Hicks, Jr. (Kelly), of Frederick, Oklahoma, Jerry Hicks (Anke), of Midwest City, Gary Hicks (Sylvia), of Frederick, and Keith Hicks, also of Frederick; one daughter: Joyce Sanders, of Winchester, Tennessee; a daughter-in-law: Katherine Hicks, of Seminole; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and two more on the way.
