Funeral service for Roger Dale Henry, age 74, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Tesca Baptist Church with Bro. David Kirby, pastor, officiating.
Roger passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, in Frederick, Oklahoma.
Burial will United States Army Military Honors will be in the Eastview Memorial Cemetery, in Vernon, Texas, under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.
He was born January 2, 1950, in Vernon, Texas, to Garvin William Henry and Myrtle L. Foster. He entered the United States Army on October 10, 1969, at Little Rock, Arkansas. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the: National Defense Service Medal; Expert (Rifle); Vietnam Service Medal w/ 3 bronze service stars; Vietnam Campaign Medal; and 2 overseas bars. He was honorable discharged as a Specialist 5 on April 13, 1972, at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He was united in marriage to Becky L. Walls. Roger worked at Frederick Ace Hardware and later after additional education, he worked as an LPN at the Northwest Texas State Behavioral Health Facility, in Vernon, Texas. He loved to read, especially his Bible and attend Bible study. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. His granddaughter Lynn was his sunshine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Shirley Henry, and Patricia Kay Fry.
Survivors include two step-sons: Ronnie Davis and wife Mary, of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Brion Davis and wife Chrissy, of Fort Worth, Texas; a brother: Calvin Henry and wife Tina, of Pittsburg, Texas; three sisters: Wanda Bates and husband Merle, of Longmont, Colorado, Jennifer Parry and husband Rick, of Squires, Missouri, and Linda J. Williams and husband Keith, of Mountain Home, Arkansas; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
