RJ Johnson

Funeral service for RJ Johnson, age 86, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Jackson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2025, at a Lawton, Oklahoma, care center.

He was born June 11, 1939, in Kilgore, Texas, to Ras and Josephine (Henry) Johnson. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Frederick and attended college in Tyler, Texas. He worked many years at Centra Leather Goods. RJ loved boxing. He enjoyed watching boxing and training for boxing. He built his own gym at his home where he could practice. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church of Frederick.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter: Monica; and brothers: Gene, John, and Charles Johnson.

Survivors include a son: Rex Johnson (Pam), of Mansfield, Texas; step-son: Durwin Simmons (Eboni), of Richardson, Texas; a brother: James Johnson, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four sisters: Wanda Lewis (Ray), of Lawton, Oklahoma, Loretta Martin (Anthony), of Mesquite, Texas, Carol Johnson of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Christine Anderson, also of Lawton, Oklahoma; and his grandchildren: Clarryssa Johnson, Daonica Smith, Elise Simmons, Victoria Johnson, McKenzie Johnson, and Grant Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
