Richard Kenneth Hudson, known as Bucky, passed away in his home on March 14, 2021 after a lengthy battle with COPD. He was born in Frederick, OK on December 20, 1951. A lifelong resident of Davidson, OK, Bucky was a farmer, basketball coach, history teacher and member of the Methodist Church.

He graduated from Davidson High School in 1970 and led the Davidson Men’s basketball team. He would go on to win high honors for his athletic abilities in basketball and baseball, earning press coverage statewide. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and returned to the ball fields and courts as a coach – most notably in Chattanooga and Davidson. He reached his career pinnacle as the coach for the 1989 – 1990 Lady Sandies, only losing a single game in the regular season.

In addition to his role as Coach, he taught history and government for 40 years. He was passionate about America’s three branches of government and world history. He was a lifelong Democrat and traveled in Europe and Central America. However, his roots always kept him in Davidson where he worked on the family farm from childhood.

Bucky is survived by his daughter, Kena Hudson Lorie and her husband David of Moraga, CA, his son Bret Hudson and his wife Jennifer of Davidson, and his close friend and companion Melody Turner of Levelland, Texas.

Of all of Bucky’s many accomplishments, friends and family his favorite people were his granddaughter and three grandsons: Emily and Ty Hudson of Davidson and Hudson and Clarence Lorie of Moraga, CA. He enjoyed following their sporting activities, riding in the pasture with them – but most of all Bucky loved to play hide-and-seek while laughing with his four “good buddies.”

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Billie and Bun Hudson.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in memorial to the First United Methodist Church, 301 E. Grand, Frederick, OK 73542, in loving memory of Bucky Hudson.
