Rhonda Jean McDowell

Memorial service for Rhonda Jean McDowell, age 63, of Lawton, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel.

Rhonda passed away at Lawton, Oklahoma, on Friday morning, May 15, 2026.

She was born September 12, 1962, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to John David “Johnny” and Ella Loreta “Reta” (Condra) McDowell. Her family lived in Davidson until moving to Frederick in 1969. She attended Frederick schools and graduated from Frederick High School. Rhonda worked in healthcare and served as a nurse’s aide at the nursing home in Frederick.

Rhonda loved people and never met a stranger. She enjoyed being outdoors, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. She also had a creative spirit and loved writing poetry.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, caring nature, and the compassion she showed to others throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Richard and Randy McDowell.

She is survived by her son: John Michael McDowell, of Lawton, Oklahoma; three sisters: Kathy Herrington and husband John, of Graham, Texas, Brenda Martineau and husband Marty, of Sherman, Texas, and LaDonna Garza and husband Raymond, of Lawton, Oklahoma; and one granddaughter: Mya McDowell.
