Reta Joyce Stone

            Funeral service for Reta Joyce (Laney) Stone, age 93, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Dr. Shane Kendrix, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

            Mrs. Stone passed away Thursday, May, 23, 2019, at a San Antonio, Texas, nursing care center.

            Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Funeral Home.

            The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

            She was born February 21, 1926, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Ted and Vera Bell (Hanna) Laney. She grew up southwest of Frederick and attended grade school at Henderson Consolidated #3 and graduated from Grandfield High School with the Class of 1943.  She attended Cameron College, in Lawton, from 1943-1945, and the University of Oklahoma 1945-1946, in Norman. She was united in marriage to Eual Elwood Stone on December 14, 1947, at Frederick, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1971. She worked for the Soil Conservation Service (ASCS), secretary for Homer Tilley and R. L. Christian, secretary at First Baptist Church, secretary at Frederick Junior High and also as a supervisor for the Department of Human Services. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and at the Tillman County Frederick Memorial Hospital as a candy striper for many years. She was a member of ESA, Frederick Garden Club and the First Baptist Church of Frederick.

            In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law: E.R. and Fannie Stone; brother: Duane Laney; two sisters: Claudene Bradley and Janna Sue Barry.

            Survivors include her son: E. Randy Stone, of Helotes, Texas; a daughter: Sheree Kay Stone, of Houston, Texas; three grandsons: Jason E. Stone (Andrea), Chad E. Stone (Kim), and Shane E. Stone (Kaitlin Weririck); great grandchildren: Ian, Sarah, Lindsay, and Lance Stone.
