Funeral service for Mildred “Ginger” (Matthew) Taylor, age 93, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, in the Burkhardt Chapel of the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, August 16, 2023, with Tony Dyer, officiating.
Mrs. Taylor passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, at an Altus, Oklahoma, nursing care center.
Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.
She was born May 12, 1930, to Thomas and Ethel (Long) Matthew, in Wapanucka, Oklahoma. Her family lived in Caddo, Oklahoma, and at the age of 15 years old, they moved to Atoka. In 1948, at the age of 18, she met and married a young Fort Sill soldier in Lawton, Oklahoma. With his military service, they traveled all over Germany. She moved to Alaska in 1967, to be near family. She was united in marriage to Frank L. “Roy” Webb in 1975, in Alaska. He preceded her in death in 1993. She later married Ken Taylor and they moved to Cold Springs (near Roosevelt) in 1985. They owned and operated the “Bait Shop.”
She is survived by a son: Roy Riley, of California; a brother: Herman (Jem), of Frederick; and two sisters: Barbara Combs (Donnie), of Frederick, and Glenda Dyer, of Grandfield.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Marvin Matthew, Ed Matthew, Jessie Matthew, Melvin Matthew, Royce Riley, Larry Riley, Lorene Bates, Marie Montgomery, Jewel Cox, and Dee Walker.
