Mary Ellen (Coley) Walker

July 19, 1927 — October 19, 2021

Mary Ellen (Coley) Walker joined Our Heavenly Father on October 19, 2021.  She was born July 19, 1927, in Frederick, Oklahoma, the daughter of Truman Otto and Clara Colvin Peters Coley.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, and brother.

 

Mrs. Walker attended Frederick Public Schools graduating in 1943; graduating from OU in 1948 with a Journalism degree.  On December 4, 1948, she married Jim G. Walker who preceded her in death in 1967.  Following his death, she attended graduate school and received a Master of Social Work degree in 1972.

 

Mrs. Walker retired after 25 years of service with the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services having held positions of County Administrator, Field Representative, and Program Supervisor.  She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church and Women’s Fellowship.  Immediate survivors include two daughters/their spouses:  Paula Lane (Michael) of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; Jean Walker-Larason (Kent) and Grandchild, William Walker Larason all of Oklahoma City.

 

The family would like to express its deepest appreciation and gratitude to the staff of St. Ann’s Nursing Home and Mercy Hospice for their compassionate care.

 

A graveside service will be conducted on November 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick, OK.
