Maria Luisa Puente

            Funeral mass for Maria Luisa Puente, age 84, of Tipton, Oklahoma, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Frederick with Rev. Fr. Cory Stanley, pastor, officiating.

            Mrs. Puente passed away Friday, May 31, 2019, at an Altus, Oklahoma, nursing care center.

            Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, at Orr Gray Gish Chapel in Frederick. Viewing on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning will be at the Tipton Funeral Home, in Tipton.

            She was born November 23, 1934, in Karnes, Texas, to Jose Angel Moreno and Lucinda (Donovan) Moreno. She was united in marriage to Juan Jesus Puente on April 22, 1952, in Corpus Christi, Texas. They traveled across the country as migrant workers. They spent time in Texas, Oklahoma and Arizona, before making their home at Tipton in 1970. She especially loved kids and said, “The more the merrier.” She was a real “animal lover”, having countless pets through the years (some traditional and some not so traditional), including frogs, goldfish and even a duck. She was a devout Catholic and was a member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, while still in Tipton, and Saint Helen’s Catholic Church, in Frederick.

            In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Juan, on April 12, 2015; a son: Ernesto; eight brothers and two sisters.

            She is survived by a daughter: Esperanza Hernandez, of Tipton; seven sons: Henry Puente and wife Monica, of Yukon, Robert Puente, Tipton, Bernabe Puente, Lawton, Angel Puente and wife Veronica, of Dallas, Texas, Benito Puente and wife Dianna, Lawton, Jaime Puente, Sweetwater, Texas, and Juan J. Puente, Jr. and wife Karri, of Garland, Texas; a sister: Cecilia Moreno, of Corpus Christi, Texas; 28 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
