Josefina Puentes

            Funeral service for Josefina (Castillo) Puentes, age 76, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Pastor Pete Vasquez and Pastor Lupe Gonzales officiating.

            Mrs. Puentes passed away at her home in Frederick on Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. A family and friends visitation will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

            She was born January 22, 1943, in Monterrey, Mexico to Ascencion and Benita (Lerma) Castillo. She attended primary school in Edinburg, Texas. She was united in marriage to Israel Juan Pena. She was a member of Filadelfia Iglesia in Robstown, Texas. She later married Jose J. Puentes on September 3, 2004, in Frederick, Oklahoma. He is a Pentecostal evangelist and Josefina joined in his ministry evangelizing in Pennsylvania, Alabama, Oklahoma and Texas. They recorded 5 gospel albums (3 Spanish and 2 English). She loved the Lord. She loved the Church and she loved to travel.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Ascencion Castillo, Robert Castillo and David Castillo; and two sisters: Febe Castillo and Cruz Sanchez.

            Survivors include her husband: Jose J. Puentes, of the home in Frederick; two sons: Israel Castillo and Daniel Pena, of Corpus Christi, Texas; four daughters: Amy Pena, Gloria Pena, Elaine P. Garcia, of  Corpus Christi, and Alicia Pena, of Robstown, Texas; three brothers: Alex Castillo, Samuel Castillo and Noe Castillo; three sisters: Rosa Luna, Dora Garza and Nora Billarrial; 11 grandchildren: Michael Castillo, Melinda Castillo, Robert Castillo, Paul Castillo, Tiffany Salcido, Tamara N. Leal, Jennifer Bryant, Johnny Bryant Jr., Brittany Pena, Marie Alicia Puentes and Melissa K. Puentes; and 11 great grandchildren: Chloe Castillo, Noah Castillo, Nathan Langford, Roman Matthew Castillo, Isaiah Robert Castillo, Patrick Castillo, Arabella Leal, Jaxon King Salcido, Callie Rae Salcido, Zaine Anthony Govella and Zaelyn Pena.
