Joe Paul Wilson was born June 29, 1976, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Jack Weldon and Brenda Gaye (Thornton) Wilson. He grew up in Frederick and attended Frederick Public Schools, graduating from Frederick High School with the Class of 1994. He continued his education at Cameron University in Lawton, where he earned a bachelor's degree in 1999. While attending college, he worked at British Tyre & Rubber Company (BTR) in Frederick. Following college, he began his career in maintenance at Bar-S in Lawton. In 2007, he joined Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Lawton, where he remained employed until the time of his death. During his years at Goodyear, he advanced from maintenance into the position of technologist, a role that reflected his mechanical aptitude and love of problem-solving.
On February 26, 2005, Joe Paul was united in marriage to Amanda Ivey at Bible Baptist Church in Frederick, with Brent Morey officiating. Together they were blessed with three children: Jonathan, Allyson, and Justin. Joe Paul was an exceptional father whose life was centered around God and family. He loved his children unconditionally and was their constant source of encouragement, support, and love.
Joe Paul had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, target shooting, camping and traveling with his family, creating many treasured memories along the way. He was naturally curious and loved building electronics and tinkering with technology. One of the special bonds he shared with his daughter, Allyson, was their mutual love of bluegrass music.
His faith was an important part of his life. Joe Paul was a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church, where he served by teaching Sunday School and investing in the lives of others through his knowledge and Christian example.
Joe Paul will be remembered for his quiet strength, his willingness to help others, his inventive mind, his devotion to his faith, and above all, the love he had for his family. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Jack Wilson.
