Irene Diaz Cruz

          Funeral service for Irene Diaz Cruz, age 63, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Saint Helen Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph David, pastor, officiating.

          Rosary and visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2024, at the Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. 

          Irene passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery.

          She was born April 7, 1961, in Sand Spring, Texas, to Felipe and Maria (Nuncio) Diaz. She grew up in Davidson and later moved to Frederick. She was united in marriage to Juan Cruz on June 1, 1977, in Vernon, Texas. She worked at Timino’s Pizza, Taco Casa, and as a CMA (Certified Medication Aide), at Winlen Oaks Nursing Care Center, Memorial Hospital and Memorial Nursing Care Center until her retirement in 2009. Her passion was her family, especially her grandkids. She loved taking care of them. She was always an avid fan of all of their sports, band and any and all activities they were involved in. She was Catholic.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Ricky Diaz.

          Survivors include three daughters: Martha Keasler (Chris), Sylvia Longoria (Alex), and Kathy Rivas (Ricky), all of Frederick; siblings: Felipe Diaz Jr., of Frederick, Joe Diaz (Tina), of Frederick, Teresa Fraire (Vern Shelton), of Tipton, Susie Barajas (Francisco), of Frederick, Elena Hernandez, of Waco, Texas, and Christine Martinez (Juan), of Crowell, Texas; grandchildren: Cory Keasler, Chloe Keasler, Juan Longoria (Harlie), Mariya Longoria, Drake Rivas, Kaisen Rivas, and Macy Kay Rivas; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins to include a special cousin: Hope Vera. Last, but not least, her family puppy Sadie.
