Evelyn L. Cheek

Funeral for Evelyn Lucille Cheek, 89, of Willow Park TX, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Orr Gish Chapel with Rev. Les Banks officiating.

Mrs. Cheek passed away on Wednesday morning, March 30, 2022, at Medical City Hospital in Weatherford, Texas.  Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.

Evelyn Lucille Harris Cheek was born August 2, 1932, in Manitou, Oklahoma to Morgan F. and Goldie L. (McGuire) Harris.  She attended school in Manitou and graduated Manitou High School with the Class of 1950.  She was united in marriage to Donald Ray Cheek on October 19, 1962, near Loveland.  He preceded her in death on August 20, 1995.  Evelyn loved playing bingo, country music, and dogs (particularly Boston Terriers).  Evelyn worked at Centra Leather Goods, Brantley Helicopter, and Frederick Public Schools in the cafeteria.  Evelyn was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and DAV Auxiliary.  She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda Jane Mathis and her husband Jeff Mathis, Aledo TX; and one grand-daughter, Skyler Mathis, Weatherford TX.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers:  J. E. Harris and Gordon Harris; and one sister: Marguerite Burba.
