Funeral for Derick "Debo" D’Wayne Billy, age 39, of Vernon, Texas, will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. Les Banks and Marcus Booker officiating.
Mr. Billy passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
A visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery.
He was born November 21, 1984, in Lawton, Oklahoma. He grew up in Frederick and lived in Frederick most all of his life. He recently lived in Vernon, Texas. Derick loved fun and games. He was very competitive and was known for his “smack talking.” He enjoyed playing dominoes, horseshoes, and going to casinos and rolling dice. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a proud tribal member of the Choctaw Nation. He could speak the Choctaw language and he liked going to sweat lodges (heated dome structures in Native American culture used during purification rites to promote healthy living and strengthen the connection to nature, the creator, and mother earth).
He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel Billy, on February 17, 2004; grandparents: Mary and Nicholes Billy; and aunts and uncles: John, Loretta, Aaron, Linda, and David Billy; cousin: Kyra Hoover Billy.
Survivors include two twin daughters: Vivienne and Victory Badillo, of Frederick; two sisters: Miranda Billy and Nicki Billy (Marcus Crowder), both of Frederick; a niece: Jocelyn Billy (Michael Mendoza); two nephews: Xander Crowder and Beau Billy; uncles: Mark Billy (Lorie), of Frederick, and Tim Billy (Jennifer), of Thomas; cousins: McKenzie Buckner (Trevor), Camden Billy, Myles and Tiana Billy, and Tristin and Taylor Billy, and special cousin Justin Billy (Tricia); and a host of cousins and friends.
