Delbert "Del" D. Brooks

            Graveside service for Delbert “Del” D. Brooks, age 80, of Tipton, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the Tipton Municipal Cemetery wit Rev. Les Banks, pastor of First Baptist Church of Tipton, officiating.

            Mr. Brooks passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.

Burial is under the direction of Orr Gray Gish & Tipton Funeral Homes.

            He was born May 28, 1942, in Mangum Oklahoma. He grew up in Mangum, attended and graduated from Mangum schools. After school, he worked as an auto body repairman. Later, he attended and graduated from the Police Academy. He worked as the Blair Police Chief for several years and later worked as a police officer for the City of Altus, where he retired from after more than 26 years of law enforcement service. He was united in marriage to Barbara Jane Milligan in June of 1987 at Wellington, Texas. Del enjoyed wood working, repairing small engines, and tinkering with and fixing most anything. According to his family, he was a “professional” hoarder. Del was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tipton.

            He was preceded in death by his mother: Dorthea Falkner.

            Survivors include his wife: Barbara, of the home in Tipton; two sons: Jimmy Brooks and wife Renee, of Duncan, and Del Lynn Brooks, of Kentucky; two step-sons: James Gamble and wife Terri, of Burkburnett, Texas, and Cody Gamble and wife Sarah, of Climax Springs, Missouri; a step-daughter: Tracee Pierce and husband Jerry, of Stover, Missouri; two grandchildren: Dacia Anderosn and husband Dustin, Lee Brooks and wife Brittny; 10 step-grandchildren: Trevor, Carson, Tristen, Blake, Rig, Remi, Rori, and Madison Gamble, Kaile and Zakery Pierce; six great grandchildren: Bryson and Corbyn Brooks, Logan Darst, Case Anderson, and Reagan and Violet Gamble.

            Memorial contributions may be sent to the Fraternal Order of Police, 701 Marriott Drive, Nashville, TN 37214, in loving memory of Del Brooks.
