Cosme Gonzalez Guadarrama

Funeral for Cosme Gonzalez, age 68, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2022, at Saint Helen's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph David, St. Helen Catholic Church, officiating.

*FAMILY FUNERAL MEAL WILL BE AT 11:30 A.M. AT THE CHURCH FRIDAY PRIOR TO THE MASS.*

A rosary service will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel.

Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Gonzalez passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at his home in Frederick, Oklahoma.  Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.

Cosme Gonzalez was born on June, 16, 1954, to Carmen Guadarrama Vega and Cosme Gonzalez Canceco in Mexico City, Mexico.  The family moved from Mexico City to Frederick, Oklahoma in 1967 when Cosme was 13 years old.  He attended Frederick schools where he met, and later married the love of his life Melissa Dawn Payne on June 17, 1978.  Cosme and Melissa raised two beautiful daughters, and were married for 34-years until Melissa’s passing in 2012.  After graduating from Frederick high school, Cosme attended Job Corp where he learned automotive mechanic trade skills which lead him to his first job in Houston, TX working on diesel engines.  He worked various jobs that eventually lead him to The Goodyear Tire & Rubber CO in Lawton, Oklahoma where he worked as a Plant Operator for 32-years until his retirement in 2017.  One of his favorite pastimes was fishing, he loved to fish whenever he could.  But his greatest joys in life was helping his wife fulfill her love and passion for cooking and serving people by buying and opening Melissa's All Occasion Catering for her.  His daughters and his grandchildren were his joy and purpose in life.  Cosme will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and laughter, in which he enjoyed lighthearted teasing with any and every one he encountered.

He is survived by his two daughters: Stasha Carrera of Frederick and Jessica Gonzalez of Davidson; five grandchildren: Alyssa, Analysia, Audrianna, Sophia, and Melissa; three great-grandchildren: Grayson, Aaliyah, and Mariana; one sister: Rosalia Jones and husband Dusty of Frederick, OK; six brothers: Salvador Gonzalez of Lawton, OK, Gabriel Gonzalez of Mexico, Roberto and Jeanne Gonzalez of Jones, OK, Juan and Nancy Gonzalez of Frederick, OK; Gerardo and Chung-Ning Gonzalez of Glendale, AZ, Hugo and Bobbie Gonzalez of Edmond, OK, and a host of loving uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces, cousins, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa Gonzalez; parents, Cosme and Carmen Gonzalez; and two sister-in-law: Verta Gonzalez, and San Juanita Rodriguez.

The family believes that when someone passes their life does not end, but rather changes.  We know that Cosme has reached a place of everlasting peace alongside Jesus Christ.  While we grieve his passing, with our grief comes the lightness of hope.
