Funeral service for Betty Lou Whitworth, age 94, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel.
Mrs. Whitworth passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Memorial Nursing Center in Frederick.
Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery.
She was born October 16, 1927, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Paul Lee Wilburn and Kathryn Flowers Wilburn. Betty’s family moved to Loveland, where she attended school through the fifth grade. The family then moved to a home in southeast Frederick, where Betty attended the Sunrise School, known as #6 District, through the 9th grade. She finished her high school education at the Frederick Public Schools. Betty lived her entire life in and around Frederick. Betty and Ralph Whitworth were united in marriage on October 16, 1943, and to this union was born two sons: Eddie and Phil. As a wife and mother, Betty worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Polk Fry for many years and served as Secretary, then President of the Medical Assistants Organization of Oklahoma. After Dr. Fry’s retirement, she worked for Dr. Keeter for several years. Betty was an avid bridge player and a member of the 3 Table Bridge Club at the Frederick Country Club.
Betty is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws: Eddie and Julane of Frederick, and Phil and Linda, of Frederick; her two grandsons and their wives: Clint and Kelly Whitworth and their sons: Jack and Ben, of Oklahoma City, and Neil and Lori Whitworth and children: Luke, Sam, and Kate of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and nephew: Lee Dwayne Wilburn, of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ralph, and a brother Gweneth Wilburn.
