Betty Sue LaFerr

November 5, 1942 — April 13, 2026

Betty Sue LaFerr, a deeply loved and cherished wife, mother, Memaw, Great-Memaw and friend, passed peacefully into the waiting arms of Jesus at the age of 83, on April 13th, 2026, with her husband, Paul, and family by her side. Betty was a former long-time resident of Frederick, Oklahoma, recently living in Indian River, MI with her youngest daughter, Melissa Hall, at the time of her passing.

Paul thanks Betty, the love of his life, for her 60 plus years of love and devotion she gave to God, to Paul and her family. Paul was a thankful witness to the beautiful peace and serenity that came over Betty's face as she left this world and met Jesus.

A visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 24, 22026, at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

She was born November 5, 1942, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Boyd E. and Annie V. (Hayes) Turner. Growing up, Betty lived not only in Anadarko, but also in various places in Texas, as her dad worked in the oil fields. She returned to Oklahoma and lived in Lindsay and Anadarko prior to coming to Frederick. She was united in marriage to Paul Edward LaFerr on January 28, 1966, at Wichita Falls, Texas, celebrating their 60th anniversary.

Betty was a devoted wife, homemaker, domestic engineer and chief child wrangler but she was so much more than that to those who knew and loved her. She always had a friendly smile for those she met and was a humble servant of Christ, full of His love and grace.

Some of Betty’s greatest joys (and in her eyes, her greatest accomplishments) were her children and grandchildren. She was the best and most loving Mom and MeMaw, always available for whatever her family might need at any time, including last-minute snacks and goodies for Band-parent fundraisers, church events, etc. A few of Betty's hobbies included gardening, working puzzles, and crafting. Her flowerbeds were always beautiful. She was a fabulous baker, as anyone who sampled her home-made bread, cinnamon rolls and other delights could attest. She also loved fishing, but she didn't like eating fish. She would catch them and cook them for us, but NEVER ate any.

Betty was a devout Christian sharing her love and faith quietly with others through service. She volunteered her time and service at church any time she was able. She believed in the power of prayer and was a Prayer Warrior of the highest caliber. She read and studied her bible daily and would spend many hours in prayer and worship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Betty was our Rock, an extraordinary soul, and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by two daughters: Deborah and Ruby LaFerr; and two brothers: James Doan and John Turner.

She is survived by her loving husband Paul LaFerr, of the home in Indian River, Michigan; children: Paula Millsap and husband Keith, of Wayne, Oklahoma, Mark LaFerr and wife Donya, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, and Melissa Hall, of Indian River, Michigan; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren: Brandon LaFerr and great-granddaughter Yuna of Reseda, California, John Millsap and wife, Jasmine of Ada, Oklahoma, with great-grandsons Stetson and Maverick, Brandi Breeden of Moore, Oklahoma, with great-grandson's Kaden and Ethan, Nick Airington of Calera, Oklahoma, Jacob LaFerr of Calera, Oklahoma, Oren Hall, Declan Hall and Ryland Butters of Indian River, Michigan.
