Jim Strickland Funeral service for James Lewis "Jim" Strickland, age 68, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at the Frederick Bomber Bowl Football Stadium, with Rev. Brent Morey, Associate Pastor, Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Procession started at the Frederick Bomber Field house. Mr. Strickland passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home. He was born on March 27, 1939, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Jack and Vera (Moore) Strickland. He attended school in Lawton. At the age of 17, he began working with upholstery in the back of his dad's glass shop. In 1961, he opened Frederick Auto Trim & Upholstery, which he owned and operated for over 40 years. He married Judy Cole on June 14, 1963, in Davidson, Oklahoma. He was a longtime active member of the Frederick Quarterback Club, where he was committed to the Frederick Public Schools and Athletics His passion was the football program, where he drove the "Spirit of FHS" Bomber Airplane from the field house to the Bomber Bowl for all the home games and traveled to all the out of town games. You knew it was game time, when you heard the sirens and saw Jim driving the Bomber plane out to the Bomber Bowl. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, where he served a treasurer. He is survived by two daughters: Tana Lamb and husband Chris, of Allen, Texas and Kimi Hanes, of Frederick, Oklahoma; a brother: Jerry Strickland and wife Kay, of Indiahoma, Oklahoma; two sisters: Ella Burch and husband Bill, of Frederick, Oklahoma and Reba Noble and husband Larry, of Duncan, Oklahoma; four grandchildren: Tyson Lamb, Lucas Hanes, Addason Lamb and Levi Hanes; beloved guardian to Roger Matthews, of North Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
