Maola Biggs Funeral service for Maola N. Biggs, age 93, of Altus, Oklahoma, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel, in Frederick, Oklahoma, with Rev. Roland Behnke, pastor, Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Biggs passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008, in Altus, Oklahoma. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home. Maola was born on December 20, 1914, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Ira L. and Eva May (Herrell) Nigh. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1932. She married George Alfred Biggs on February 14, 1937, in Frederick, Oklahoma. They recently celebrated 71 years of marriage, sealed with a kiss and a box of Valentine chocolates, the same way they had celebrated it 70 times before. She worked for the county agent for several years. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club. She was an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church. They enjoyed traveling, where they visited Canada twice, Hawaii twice, took several bus trips and cruises. As Maola said, "We lived a very happy life." She was preceded in death by her parents, a son: George M. Biggs, in 2003; a brother: Clifford Nigh and sister in laws: Anna Jones, Lena Sturgis and Eula Nigh. She is survived by her husband: George A. Biggs, of Altus, Oklahoma; a daughter: Ilena Mae Vernon and husband Dennis, of Altus, Oklahoma; four grandsons: Marty Biggs and wife Tracey, of Wichita Falls, Texas; Kevin Biggs and wife Stephanie, of Iowa Park, Texas; Rod Vernon, of Edmond, Oklahoma and Rick Vernon and wife Mary, of Altus, Oklahoma; seven great grandchildren: Brandon Biggs, Kimbra Crowe and husband Mark, Kerry Biggs, Barry Biggs, Tandy Cox, Lindsay and Sean Biggs, Gage Vernon and Tyson Vernon; two great great grandchildren: Bailey Biggs and Braxton Crowe and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
