Orel Mayberry, Jr.

Orel Mayberry, Jr. Funeral service for Orel Mayberry, Jr., age 51, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Church of the Living God, with Bishop E. L. Bowie Sr., pastor, officiating. Mr. Mayberry went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home. Orel Mayberry, Jr. was born on March 23, 1956, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Orel and Eddie May (Blackwell) Mayberry. He was able to share his life with seven generations of his family as he grew into manhood. Orel Jr. was raised from a young age being taught the Word of God. The teachings about the love of God were handed down from each generation. From these teachings, he grew to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a lifelong resident of Frederick. He was a proud graduate of Frederick High School as an Oklahoma Honor Society honoree, where he was a member of the Bomber football team and marching band. He was united with First Baptist Church at a very young age and later attended and united with The Church of the Living God. He was truly of Child of God. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, where he served for three years. He received an honorable medical discharge in 1977. Orel Jr. would tell us, "When you hear of my homecoming, don't worry about me. I'm just another soldier of the Lord going home." He was a man of great love and compassion. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ronny & Rodney Mayberry and a sister: Connie Mayberry Ellis. He lives to cherish his memories three brothers: Tommy Carl Mayberry, of Inglewood, California; Larry Don Randle, of Wichita, Kansas and Erick Lafronz Mayberry, of Lawton, Oklahoma; three sisters: Balerie Jewel Mayberry, of St. Robert, Missouri; Eddie Lavern Mayberry and Monique Uvonne Mayberry, both of Lawton, Oklahoma; a very special family friend: James Morgan, of Lawton, Oklahoma; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in laws and great friends.
