Richard Howell Graveside service for Richard Morgan Howell, age 53, of Elgin, Texas, was at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the North Deep Red Cemetery, with Rev. R.T. Perry, Tipton United Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. Howell passed away Wednesday, April 2, at his home, in Elgin, Texas. Burial was under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home, Frederick, Oklahoma. Richard Morgan Howell was born on August 16, 1954, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Aaron and Susie (Morgan) Howell. He attended school in Manitou, where he completed the 8th grade and transferred to Tipton, to attend high school, where he graduated in 1972. He attended Cameron College, in Lawton, Oklahoma, for two years, before transferring to Oklahoma State University School of Technical Training, where he received an associate degree in Industrial Machine Tool Technology, in 1976. He worked as a machinist at Halliburton Services, a welder for G.W. Petty Construction and as a driller for Vierson & Cochran Drilling Company, before returning to school in 1986. He attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree, a Major in Electronics Technology and a Minor in Computer Science, in 1990. In 1994, he went to work for Advanced Micro Devices in Austin, Texas, as a Wafer Fab Technician. He was a member of the Manitou Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister: Susan Howell and husband, William Steele, of Thorne Bay, Alaska; and niece: Erin Howell; and a half brother: James Glanville and wife, Jill, of Houston, Texas and nieces and nephews: Cheri, James, Shawn & Nicole.
