She lived her early life around Vernon, Texas, growing up on a farm near White City, graduating from Northside High School and later, during World War II, she lived and worked in Vernon as a dental assistant. In 1949, she met and married Sam D. Mitchell, Jr., of Frederick, Oklahoma. They married at the Northside Methodist Church and moved to the Mitchell farm in rural Davidson, Oklahoma. She and Sam lived in the Victory Community where she was involved in school activities, county extension club and Eastern Star. She was well known for her homemaking skills including baking and cooking and her dressmaking brought annual blue ribbons at the Tillman County Fair. She served as Worthy Matron for Davidson's chapter of the Eastern Star and in 2006, she received her 50 year service pin. After a time away, in Stillwater and Woodward, she and Sam moved to Frederick. Wilma worked as a seamstress at Kellwood, Betsy Bra and The Bag Scene and she treasured the friendships that grew from those jobs. The ribbons at the county fair continued. She was a life long member of the First Christian Church of Frederick. She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Laudy Lambert. She is survived by her husband, Sam Mitchell, of the home; a son: Trey and wife Becky of Spring, Texas; two daughters: Pam Johnson and husband Mike of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Samia Woodall of Lawton, Oklahoma; five grandchildren: Ty Johnson of Dallas, Texas; Clay Johnson and wife Shonda of Collinsville, Oklahoma; Shea Woodall and wife Kindra of Frederick, Oklahoma; Ryan Mitchell and wife Katie of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Sydni Mitchell also of Nacogdoches; one great granddaughter, Quinlin Ruth Johnson of Collinsville, Oklahoma; three brothers: Pat Lambert, Joe Lambert and wife Lavelle, all of Vernon, Texas, and Sydney Lambert and wife Rosalee of Wichita Falls, Texas; and one sister-in-law Virgie Lambert of Vernon, Texas.
