Eugene Overton

Funeral service for Samuel "Eugene" Overton, age 88, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Gray Gish Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Horton, officiating. Mr. Overton passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in Frederick, Oklahoma. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home. Samuel Eugene Overton was born on December 25, 1920, in Stratford, Oklahoma, to Lester Eugene and Cora L. (Hall) Overton. He graduated from Manitou High School in 1939. He married Nona Mae Burnett in 1959, in Texas. He farmed east of Frederick in the Deep Red Community. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nona Mae Overton, on September 20, 1991; two brothers: Herman Glynn and Clyde Overton and nephew: Cary Wayne Betty. He is survived by a daughter: Alexis Skinner and husband Curtis, of Mesa, Arizona; two grandsons: Curtis Gene Skinner, of Mesa, Arizona, and Joel Wayne Skinner and wife Rebecca McNaughton, of Chicago, Illinois; two sisters: Mildred Duckworth, of Borger, Texas and Joyce Betty and husband Winfred, of Decatur, Texas; eight nieces and three nephews and their family.
