Mrs. DiStefano passed away May 16, 2007, in Rockville, Maryland. Inurnment will be under the direction of Gray Gish Funeral Home, Frederick, Oklahoma. Sarah Louise Williams was born on October 27, 1935, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Bryon E. and Beulah M. (Potts) Williams. She grew up in Frederick, where she graduated high school in 1953. After graduation, she moved to Washington D.C. In 1956, she began work as a secretary at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. During her career at the Agriculture Department, she rose to a prominent position as a program analyst and budget officer in the U.S. Agency for International Development. In 1968, she married Tony DiStefano. They lived in Arlington, Virginia for a brief period and then moved to Potomac, Maryland, where they lived for the rest of their married life. In 1985, shortly after the death of her mother, she became a volunteer shopper for the Red Cross, where she served for 20 years. It reflected her big heart and her habit of giving to others. She retired from the Department of Agriculture in 1990. She was known for her loving and generous nature. She always showed intense feelings for anyone who needed help by going out of her way to advise and support someone. She was proud to be an Okie and it showed. She put people at ease with her openness. She was unpretentious and a delight to be with. Her greatest enjoyment was to be in the company of her family and friends, whom she was devoted to and deeply touched those close to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Susie Williams Edwards and a brother: Byron Edward Williams. She is survived by her husband, Tony, of the home; a brother: Weegie Williams and wife Opal, of Hobart, Oklahoma; a sister: Jane Ann Gist, of Arlington, Texas; two half brothers: Myron and Craig Williams, both of Maryland; a half sister: Mary Kirchner and husband Peter, of Germany; many nieces and nephews.
