Funeral service for Mary Lee (Smith) Norris, age 89, of Lawton, Oklahoma, formerly of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel, with Bro. Joe C. Brown, pastor of Rose Hill Church of Christ, Lawton, Oklahoma, officiating. Mrs. Norris passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at a Lawton, Oklahoma, nursing care center. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. She was born September 21, 1920, in Boswell, Oklahoma, to Warsaw and Florence (Collins) Smith. Mary attended school at St. Mark Community School. She met and married Lem Norris on September 4, 1937. They traveled with the Church of Christ during their early years in marriage. They adopted one daughter. Mary moved to Frederick in 1979, to be close to her family. She was a member of the 13th and Josephine Church of Christ. Mary later moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, in 1999, and became a member of the Rose Hill Church of Christ family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four brothers. She is survived by one child: Norma Jean Norris, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one grandchild: Sequice Lanette Norris, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; six sisters: Addie Mae, of Altus, Oklahoma, Myrtle Appling, of Frederick, Oklahoma, Franceil Lang, of Alexandria, Virginia, Shirley Stevenson, of Lawton, Oklahoma, Jearlene Williams, of Kansas City, Kansas and Magalene Miller, of Oakland, California; two brothers: Wade Smith and James Smith, both of Frederick, Oklahoma; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
