Jim Witcher Dutton

Funeral service for Jim Dutton, age 89, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, in the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. Eric Snyder, pastor First United Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. Dutton passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009, in the Memorial Hospital, in Frederick, Oklahoma. Burial with military honors was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. Jim was born on February 28, 1920, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Wille B. "Buck" and Mary Neal Vetto Dutton. He grew up in Frederick, where he graduated from Henderson High School in 1939. He entered the United States Army on October 12, 1942, and served honorably during WW II. He was discharged on November 20, 1945, among the military service awards he received were: EAME Theater Ribbon with five Battle Stars, American Defense Ribbon, WW II Victory Ribbon, One Silver Service Star and Good Conduct Medal. He married Joyce Neely, on June 15, 1951, in Frederick, Oklahoma. He farmed near Frederick and in 1955, he and his wife moved to California where he worked in the aircraft industry. They returned to Frederick in 1958. He worked as a janitor for the First Baptist Church and then the Tillman County Courthouse, where he retired from in 1992. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post No. 49. He loved the outdoors and fishing was his passion. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister: Imogene "Jean" Lee Query. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; son: Randy Dutton; daughter: Hollie Dutton; two grandsons: Terrell Johnson and KaShawn Curry, all of Frederick, Oklahoma.
