Irene Nuncio

Funeral mass for Irene Nuncio, age 69, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at St. Helen's Catholic Church, Frederick, Oklahoma, with Rev. Joseph Sundar, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick, Oklahoma, under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home, of Frederick. Rosary service was held 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, at the funeral home chapel. Mrs. Nuncio passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus, Oklahoma. She was born October 31, 1940, in Sanderson, Texas, to Pedro and Josepha (Cerda) Gonzalez. She grew up and attended school in Sanderson. In 1965, she was united in marriage to Margarito Nuncio, Sr., in Rankin, Texas. In 1977, she moved to Frederick, Oklahoma, which became her home for 33 years. On October 15, 1987, she began a companionship with Ventura Gomez, which lasted over 22 years. She was a member of St. Helen's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Maria De La Luz Ramirez, Hortencia Barrera, and Petra Mendoza; and a loving nephew: George Ramirez. Survivors include her husband: Ventura Gomez, of the home; two sons: Margarito "Mike" Nuncio, Jr., of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Selso Owen Nuncio, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two daughters: Bertha Ann Amador and Maria D. Nuncio, both of Frederick, Oklahoma; a brother: Jesus Cerda Gonzalez, of Crane, Texas; a sister: Leonor Arrieta, of Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren: Ramon Amador, Jr., Chris Amador; Selso Nuncio, Jr., Jose Nuncio, Adrian Nuncio, Jacinto "Manual" Nuncio, Ashley Sanchez, and Marisol Nuncio; five great grandchildren: Melanii Amador, Malorie Amador, Ezequel Amador, Myra Amador and Jose Luis Amador; and numerous nieces and nephews.
