Allen Edward Coursey went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 23, 2010. He died in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of 79 years and four months. He was born March 23, 1931, to Oliver Jackson and Ethel Altie (Calhoun) Coursey, in Chattanooga, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Chattanooga, Frederick and Davidson vicinities attending school at Victory. He lived in Roswell, New Mexico, from 1947 until he was drafted in the United States Army in 1951, at Fort Bliss, Texas. He served in the infantry during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class on June 13, 1955, at Fort Lewis, Washington, receiving the National Defense Service Medal. He married Melba Lois Holloway on September 2, 1953, in Comanche, Oklahoma. They moved to Frederick in 1955, where he lived and worked in the auto body repair business. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Frederick, Oklahoma. He was preceded death by his parents; and a brother: Ernest Coursey. He is survived by his wife, Melba; two daughters: Lois Allene Gammage and husband Pat, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Meredith Ann Coursey, of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandchildren: Joshua Patrick Gammage, and Anna Zhou Gammage, both of Wichita Falls, Texas.
