Harold Hugh McClintock

November 26, 1924 — August 12, 2010

Harold (Mac) Hugh McClintock, age 85, of Tulsa, Oklahoma , formerly of Davidson, Oklahoma, died Thursday, August 12, 2010 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born November 26, 1924 in the small town of Davidson, Ok. He graduated high school at Davidson and joined the United States Marine Corp at age 19. He had tours of duty in the south Pacific during WWII with the 3rd Marine Corp. from 1943-1945. He was severely injured by an enemy hand grenade in Guam and received the Purple Heart. Harold graduated from Central State University in 1951 with a BS degree in business. He worked for the US Postal service for 30 years as an accounting supervisor. Harold was known as "Mac" by most of his friends and family. Mac grew up on his family's wheat and cotton farm in Davidson. Mac spent many hot days picking cotton and helping with all the duties it takes to run a farm. Mac later moved to Tulsa after he got home from the service. Mac was an excellent wood carver and loved to make carvings for people. His carvings were once displayed at the Zarrow regional library. Will Rogers said "he never met a man he didn't like". Let it be known that everyone who had ever met Mac liked him. Mac always had a smile on his face. Mac was a true man. A true man is kind and generous. A true man is not boastful and above pettiness. A true man looks for the good in people and puts others before himself. A true man is respectful of others and puts his family above all. A true man has nothing to prove. A true man just is. Mac was all of these and much more. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Mac was preceded in death by his parents John and Letrice McClintock; two sisters, Billie Hawkins of Tulsa, OK and Johnie Mitchell of Covington LA. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sister, Betty (Ed) Fishcher, Lebanon,Va; stepsons, Gary Ward Jr. and wife, Shelly of Tulsa, Ok and Tracy Ward of Tulsa, OK; nieces, Donna Fishcher, Gloria Mitchell, Ruth LaCaze and Nancy Gilmer; nephew, Harold Fishcher; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
