Elizabeth Emenhiser Fischer

d. May 31, 2011

She was born in Hollister, Oklahoma to Roy W. and Blanche (Wolfe) Emenhiser. She graduated from Frederick High School, attended Oklahoma College for Women, now USAO in Chickasha, Oklahoma, and then graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Art Education. She was also a student at the Chicago Art Institute. She taught kindergarten in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she met Jim Fischer, her husband of fifty years who preceded her in death in 2004. She also taught kindergarten in Boston, MA while Jim completed his Master's in Chemical Engineering at MIT. Elizabeth and Jim moved to Dallas in 1955 where Jim worked for Texas Instruments for almost 30 years. Elizabeth and Jim were members of Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth was a member of PEO for over 40 years. She also was a member of Helen Poe, LiSi, and Preston Hill book clubs, and the Northwood Hills and Richardson Women's Clubs. She was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. While living in Texas she returned often to visit the land she loved in Tillman County and her childhood home in Frederick, Oklahoma. Elizabeth was one of three sisters, Willa Jean Emenhiser Holloman and Jolene Emenhiser Johnson who preceded her in death in 2006 and 2007 respectively. They were known to many Oklahomans as the Emenhiser Sisters. The pioneering spirit from her Oklahoma roots was one of Elizabeth's strengths. She lives a strong and full life of many years after surviving polio as a child. She loved her family and cared for their well being by dedicating herself to new and alternative health choices before they were as available as they are today. She possessed a tenacious faith and natural beauty and was never happier than when she was surrounded by her friends and family. She is survived by one daughter: Victoria Fischer Morse and husband Edward (Ned) Morse of Atlanta, GA; one son: Richard Lee Fischer and wife Ryffel Fischer of Pasadena, CA; six grandchildren: David Morse, James Morse, William Morse, Mary Elizabeth Morse, Rebecca Fischer and James Fischer. Elizabeth, known as "Bibby" to her extended family, is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
