Hazel Birdine

Hazel Thedora Birdine went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the age of 89 years, three months, and three days. She was born June 18, 1922, in Chandler, Oklahoma, to Sam Leatherman and Marriah (Climmons) Williams. She came to Tillman County with her family at the age of five. She attended Crossroads School, west of Frederick, and then Boyd High School, Frederick. She was united in marriage to Tommie Lee Birdine on September 19, 1939, in Frederick, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1984. She worked cleaning homes and offices for many years. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and then Friendship Baptist Church, Missionary Society, Art Club and she was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons: Geary Lee Birdine and Darryl Blane Birdine; four sisters: Ola Lee Jones, Fay Myrtle Owens, Alvernie and Louise Leatherman; two brothers: Lonnie Lee Williams and Wilbur A. Leatherman; granddaughter: Laterria D. Birdine and a great grandson: Demetrius Addison, Jr. Survivors include four sons: Tommy Gene Birdine, Frederick, Oklahoma, Phillip Dale Birdine, Lewisville, Texas, Rod Steven Birdine, El Paso, Texas, and Christopher Alfred Birdine, of Lawton, Oklahoma; two daughters: Phyllis Gayle Morgan, Plano, Texas, and Debra Ann Mitchell, of Frederick, Oklahoma; 25 grandchildren: Chere Morgan, Veronica Perdue, Pernell Morgan, Demetrius Addison, Antione Addison, Kyla Thomas, Xavian Wright, Adrian Wright, Samuel Mitchell III, Sasha Mitchell, Geary Birdine, Elita Rich, Natasha Nguyen, Ashli Birdine, Tabitha Birdine, Marriah Birdine, Tommy Birdine, Jr., Sabrina Birdine, Jennifer Birdine, Kristalyn Birdine Griffith, Avery Dawn Birdine, Rod Birdine, Jr., Dray Birdine, Hopie Birdine, and Tempest Washington; 24 great grandchildren: Terence and Trenton Clark, Derek C. Morgan, Kelyse Perdue, K'Lyn Perdue, Kairrah Perdue, Keithan Perdue, Randy Martin, Telisa Martin, Alexus Page, Christopher Bradley Page, Deyone Miller, Deuna Miller, China Addison, Z'Karyon Addison, Demetrius Addison, G'Maria and A'Mariee Cook, Vicente Madrigales, Breanna Addison ,Tyre Birdine, Noah Cochran, Jerry Cochran III, and Ethan Nguyen; three great great grandchildren: Brooklyn Nicole, Aniya Alexis and Randy Martin, Jr.; a host of nieces and nephews and extended family: Rick Guill, Matthew Huff and Katelynn Foster.
