Velton Johnson Woodmore

December 1, 1911 — November 3, 2011

Velton Johnson Woodmore went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 3, 2011. Mrs. Woodmore died at Plano, Texas, at the age of 99 years, 11 months, and two days. She was born on December 1, 1911 to Benjamin Franklin and Hester Euran (Mills) Johnson, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She attended school at Manitou and graduated from Manitou High School. She married William Lawrence Woodmore on August 7, 1938 in Manitou, Oklahoma. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, in Manitou, Oklahoma. She loved quilting which she practiced with the women of the Manitou United Methodist Church for families in need of quilts. Velton was a devout Christian who studied the Bible faithfully and served at her church as the children's Sunday school teacher for much of her adult life. To all of her extended family she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had a wonderful sense of humor and zest for life, and deep love and compassion for her family and friends. We know she is now at peace, but she will be truly missed by all those who have had the blessing of knowing her here on this earth. The family extends their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the staff at Prestonwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Plano, Texas for their devotion and care of our precious mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: William Lawrence Woodmore on June 2, 1977; and three sisters: Lera Ann, Cleva and Thelma Irene Johnson. She is survived by one daughter: Willene Laura Hawk and husband John J., of Plano, Texas; two grandsons: Eric Hawk and wife Lani, of Frisco, Texas, and Cody Hawk and wife Kathie, of Frisco, Texas; two great grandsons: Mitchell Hawk and Will Hawk, of Frisco, Texas; and one great granddaughter: Kyler Hawk, of Frisco, Texas.
