Alice Albonna Peacock

Alice "Albonna" Peacock went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 2, 2011. She died in Frederick, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years 11 months and eight days. She was born December 24, 1917, in Frederick, Oklahoma, to Arthur and Charlie E. (James) Moring. She and her family faced the Great Depression together and all of her three brothers served their country honorably in the military during World War II. She attended Frederick schools and graduated from Frederick High School. She was united in marriage to James Henry Peacock in 1940, at Houston, Texas. She and her husband were living in Sylacauga, Alabama, when their son was born in 1941. In 1943, they moved to Houston, Texas, where their daughter was born. Albonna attended and was very active at Heights Christian and then Bethany Christian Church, including serving as president of the Texas State Christian Women's Fellowship. She worked at the downtown Foley's department store in Houston for over 20 years until her retirement in 1985. At that time, she moved back to Frederick and became an active member of Frederick First Christian Church, the church she attended as a child and served as Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School and Trustee. She was also a member of the Black Katz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James H. Peacock, in 1981; two brothers: Ray Moring and Wilbur Moring; a sister: Kathryn Ellis (lifelong Frederick resident). She is survived by her son: J. R. Peacock and wife Judy Power Clark, of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter: Mary C. Hinson, of Mobile, Alabama; one brother: Tommy Moring, of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren: Bonnie Peacock, Fort Worth, Texas, and Jennifer Gaynor, of Austin, Texas; three great grandchildren: Christian, Kyle and Logan Gaynor.
