Lloyd K. Gray

Lloyd Kendrick Gray went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 2, 2012. He died in Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 15 days. He was born June 17, 1922, at Thalia, Texas, to Charlie Franklin and Mary Elizabeth (Cain) Gray. He entered the United States Army on November 12, 1942. He served during WW II and received numerous citations and decorations including: American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon with 1 Service Stripe and 1 Overseas Service Bar. He was honorably discharged on February 15, 1946, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was united in marriage to Gaynell Marie Harris on April 10, 1943, at Little Rock, Arkansas. He began working for International Harvester as a tractor mechanic. They lived in various places in Texas including Iowa Park and Wichita Falls. They moved to Frederick in February of 1956 and he continued to work for International Harvester. In 1965, he opened his own mechanic shop, LG Tractor Company and later Gray's Garage. He was the owner and operator and would fix anything that didn't run, whether it was automotive or agricultural equipment. He retired in 1984, and enjoyed camping and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: James Coleman Gray. Survivors include his wife: Gaynell, of Frederick; a daughter: Sandra Farris and husband David, of White Settlement, Texas; two sons: Gary Gray and wife Terri, of Frederick, Oklahoma, and Charles Gray and wife Carolyn, also of Frederick, Oklahoma; a sister: Charlene Fontenot and husband Joe, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; eight grandchildren: Mike Farris (Lucy), Angela Ledbetter (Brett), Phillip Farris, Marta Sinor (Keith), Mandy Dunn (Jason), Cindy Davila (Shannon), Beau Gray (Darcy), and Matt Gray; and 21 great grandchildren.
