Doyle Weatherford

Doyle Glenn Weatherford went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He died in Tipton, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 29 days. He was born July 15, 1936, at Manitou, Oklahoma, to John Marvin and Leona Lillian (Daulton) Weatherford. He graduated from Tipton High School and was on the 1954 State Championship football team. He attended Cameron College and was drafted in to the United States Army in 1958 and served honorably until his discharge on August 9, 1962, at rank of E-5 (T). He returned to college at Central State and then Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he obtained his bachelor's degree. He worked for the Federal Government Forrest Service from 1956-1979 (not counting his time in the military service), and then for the U. S. Postal Service from 1979-2000. He loved to tease and pull pranks on friends and family. Also he had a passion for building things; he called it, "tinkerin". He was a member of the Tipton Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Geneva in 1929, and two brothers: Max in 1983, and Durward in 2007. He is survived by his daughter: Ericka Lin Weatherford Bennett and husband Tim, of Tipton, Oklahoma; four grandchildren: Justin and Ashley Gonzalez, Brandon Tate, and Caitlin Bennett; a great granddaughter: Adelyn Gonzalez; niece: Regina Weatherford Gracey and husband Darrel and family, of Hobart, Oklahoma; and nephews: Michael Weatherford, of Colorado, Steven Weatherford and wife Kathy, of Altus, Oklahoma, David Weatherford, of Altus, Allen Weatherford and wife Jessica, of Oklahoma City, and Larry and Moriko Weatherford, of Japan, and families; and a sister in law: Joyce Weatherford, of Erick, Oklahoma.
