Donald T. Stevens

Donald Travis "Don" Stevens went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 18, 2014. He passed away in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years, nine months and 29 days. He was born October 19, 1937, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Robert Joel "Jack" and Laura Pauline (Coffman) Stevens. He lived in Oklahoma City briefly before his family returned to Frederick and Tillman County. He attended school at Weaver and Frederick. He was drafted in to the United States Army and inducted on July 12, 1960. He served in Germany before he was honorably discharged from active duty on July 3, 1962, at Fort Hamilton, New York. He received the Good Conduct Medal as well as the Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin). He was united in marriage to Brenda Kay Callaham on March 24, 1966, at Vernon, Texas. He worked at APCO and also as a trucker in the family business. He then began to sell life insurance for many years until his recent retirement. He enjoyed sports, especially football, and watching Westerns. He had a deep appreciation for music and was especially fond of "Big Band" era style music. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother: Roger. Survivors include his wife: Brenda, of the home in Frederick, Oklahoma; four daughters: Kelly Hicks and husband Joe, of Frederick, Mary Hernandez and husband Gilbert, of Tipton, Cindy Booker and husband Teddy, of Frederick, and Jennifer Stevens and David Sebastian, also of Frederick; two brothers: Nick Stevens and wife Paula, of Conroe, Texas, and Jack Stevens, of Mustang, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren: Allison and Jeffrey, Courtni and Vincent, Jordan, Julia, Cameron, Steven, Dalton, Travis, Derrick, Trey, Sara and Emily; and six great grandchildren: Laura, Jaydee, Xavier, Shonn, Jaci and Jaylin.
