Troice Ballard             Funeral service for Troice Ballard, age 88, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Reverend Tom Peevyhouse, officiating.             Mr. Ballard passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017, in a Lawton hospital. Burial with U.S. Navy military honors was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home. The family received friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.             He was born June 11, 1929, at Altus, Oklahoma, to George Samuel and Clara Novella (Bridges) Ballard. He attended Emerson Junior High School in Frederick and in June 1946, he joined the United States Navy at San Diego, California. He served with the 109th Seabees, on the USS Hector and USS Antitum. He was honorably discharged in January of 1950, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Medal. He was united in marriage to Lela Whitmore on September 18, 1948, in Vernon, Texas. He worked as a mechanic for several dealerships and shops including: Wade Watson Chevrolet, Terry Brothers Garage, Brown’s Garage, Ballard Brothers and then at his house. He was known as “the carburetor man”. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and the Trinity Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Lela Ballard, on April 28, 2016; four brothers: baby boy Ballard, Delbert Ballard, Leon Ballard and twin brother Floice Ballard; two sisters: Patricia Sue Ballard and Maxine Hudspeth. Survivors include two sons: Troice Donald Ballard, Frederick, Oklahoma, and Richard Dale Ballard and wife Rosemary, of Oklahoma City; four daughters: Glenda Kay Barbosa and husband John, Irving, Texas, Barbara Gayle Anderson and husband Tom, of Snyder, Oklahoma, Anita Jane Calvillo, Oklahoma City, and Clara Sue Turner, of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers: Charlie Johnson Ballard and wife Pam, of Angelton, Texas, and Doyle Clinton Ballard and wife Patsy, of Frederick, Oklahoma; a sister: Mary Hostak and husband Jim, of Frederick, Oklahoma; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
