Delfina Garza

     Funeral service for Delfina M. Garza, age 97, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Frederick with Reverend Abel Gonzales, pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista, officiating.      Mrs. Garza passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at her home in Frederick. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.      A visitation reception for family and friends was held from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.      She was born December 24, 1919, in Wheelock, Texas, to Vernardo and Guadalupe (Contreras) Marquez. She was united in marriage to Manuel Garza on January 31, 1942, at Hearne, Texas. They moved to Oklahoma, first to Grandfield and then Frederick. She was a homemaker and raised her family often times doing odd jobs. She loved to cook, sew, arts and crafts, but most of all her family, especially all of her grandchildren. She was a charter member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista and the oldest living member of the church at the time of her death. She was active and devoted to God and to her church. She served for many years as a Sunday school teacher, custodian and Vacation Bible School worker as well as numerous other ministries and activities.      She was preceded in death by her husband: Manuel Garza, on December 11, 1967; three sons: Tony Garza, Rick Garza, and Gregory Garza; a daughter: Gloria Garza; two sisters: Andrea Garcia and Regina Portillo; and four grandchildren: Michael Garza, Douglas Garza, Sal Garza and Vickie Garza.      Survivors include: two sons: Sal Garza and wife Melba, of Bryan, Texas, and Manuel (Robert) Garza and wife Maria, of Frederick, Oklahoma; two daughters: Wallie Flores and husband Johnny, Frederick, Oklahoma, and Eva Cervantes and husband Gabriel, of Grand Prairie, Texas; two brothers: Daniel Ramirez, of New Mexico, and Malaquis Marquez, of Bryan, Texas; 21 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 48 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and friends.      Memorial contributions may be sent to Primera Iglesia Bautista, P.O.
