Frances Harness

            Funeral service for Frances J. (Patterson) Harness, age 95, of Frederick, Oklahoma, was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Dr. Shane Kendrix, pastor of First Baptist Church of Frederick and the Honorable David Barnett, officiating.             Mrs. Harness passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at her home in Frederick. Burial was in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.             She was born June 13, 1922, Frederick, Oklahoma, to Walter R. and Dena Bell (Adams) Patterson. Frances was united in marriage to Jack Harness on January 4, 1942, in Frederick. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II. She lived in Frederick most of her life except during WW II when her husband was stationed at Miami Beach, Florida, where she had wonderful experiences. She was proud of the fact that she earned her GED at the age of 55. Education was very important to her. Frances and Jack made many sacrifices to send their daughters to college. She was retired as the deputy of Tillman County Election Board after 25 years of service. Also, she was a bookkeeper for Jack’s Dr. Pepper business. Frances was very organized, business minded and loved having garage sales. She was a Campfire Girls leader. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frederick, where she taught Sunday school to 5 year old children for years and later was a leader in her adult ladies Sunday School Class.             In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jack Harness, on October 26, 1988; two sisters: Flo and Faye; three brothers: Sonny, Jack and Tom; an infant daughter: Darlene; and a grandson: Steven.             She is survived by two daughters: Jeanne Loomis and husband Jim, of Weatherford, Oklahoma, and Sue Ann Lewis and husband Randall, of Frederick; three grandchildren: Michael Loomis and wife Cori, of Oklahoma City, Becky Holland and husband David, of Lawton, and Justin Lewis and wife Jessica, of Frederick; seven grandchildren: Austin Loomis, Carter Loomis, Trevor Loomis, Drew Holland, Grant Holland, Brynn Holland and Parker Lewis.
