Harry Jessie

            Funeral service for Harry Jessie, age 90, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Frederick, with Rev. Les Banks and Rev. Tim Billy officiating.

            Mr. Jessie passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019, at a Lawton, Oklahoma, nursing care center. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.

            A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

            He was born January 17, 1929, in Golden, Oklahoma, to Henderson and Seley (King) Jessie. He attended school near Golden and Idabel. He was united in marriage to Rubye Louise Parker on November 17, 1950, in De Queen, Arkansas. They moved to southwest Oklahoma and lived in Walters a couple of years before settling in Frederick. Harry lived a while in Wichita Falls and worked for Owens & Brumley Funeral Home. In Frederick, he worked at Miracle Lab Pest Control for many years as well as working as a farmhand. Most remember him for his carpentry and construction skills. He was a “jack of all trades” and was a tremendous handy man that could do any odd job. His last job was at the Frederick Post Office as custodian. He loved to fish, watching sports, grilling and swatting flies.  One of his favorite spots was the Hop & Sak, it’s where he got all his news. He was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and its heritage. He wouldn’t drive anything but a Chevrolet.

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Rubye, on June 6, 2013; and a brother: Harvey Jessie.

            Survivors include seven sons: Roger Jessie and wife Diane, of Waurika, Darrell Jessie, of Lawton, Mike Jessie, of Wichita Falls, TX, Harry Jessie and wife Delores, of Ardmore, Bruce Jessie and wife Patricia, of Lawton, Tracy Lynn Jessie, of Ardmore, and Jeff Jessie and wife Shelli, of Nashville, TN; one daughter: Pamela Thompson, of McKinney, TX; a brother: Herbert Jessie (Gloria), of Idabel; a sister: Susie Oliver (Eddie), of Arkansas; 14 grandchildren: April Jessie, Jason Jessie (Maci), Kimberly Carlton (Lionel), Darrell Keith Jessie II, James Tyler Miller, Amanda Jessie, Kyle Jessie, Zac Jessie (Melanie), Josh Jessie (Kacy), Lauren Jessie, Mitch Ellis (Katie), Miah Willis (Blair), Stephen Thompson (Julie), and Lauren Powless (Steven) , and several great grandchildren.

            Memorial contributions may be sent to the McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Care Center, 2007 NW 52^nd Street, Lawton, OK 73505, in loving memory of Harry Jessie.
